Just weeks after closing their flagship restaurant, the team behind one of Manchester's best-loved Italian restaurants have confirmed they're coming back – but under a new guise. This week, they'll be opening a brand new city centre spot.
Salvi's had been a mainstay of the Manchester restaurant scene for 16 years, but in late July, they confirmed the Corn Exchange site was closed. Founded by Maurizio Cecco, the restaurant was one of the original inhabitants of the then Triangle shopping centre before the Grade II-listed building took back its original name in 2013.

Known as 'Manchester’s first true Neapolitan eatery', the deli, mozzarella bar and restaurant served dishes made with authentic Italian ingredients. Over the years, it opened sites in the Northern Quarter and Deansgate as well as retaining the Corn Exchange site.
Its Northern Quarter site closed in 2020, whilst their 3,000 sq ft Deansgate Square spot also closed in August last year as bosses teased it was making room for an 'exciting new concept'. The sole remaining restaurant, which had been refurbished in 2024, had its last day of trading on Sunday, July 2026.
New generation with AMÒ
Now, a new update has been shared that will please many of its diners and supporters. The team have heralded a 'new generation' of Salvi's and a new chapter for the family with the launch of AMÒ, which will open to customers at 12pm on Thursday, 13 August at Deansgate Mews, which sits above Deansgate.
Billed as a 'smaller, more modern, spontaneous' take on everything that people already know and love about Salvi's, the restaurant will see Maurizio's daughter Sienna Cecco bringing a new generation of the family into the mix.
No booking needed and daily specials
AMÒ is Neapolitan slang for “my love”, and the family say it is used freely, warmly and often with a little attitude. The new Deansgate Mews spot is designed to be somewhere customers can drop by without a booking, and will offer lunch, coffee and plenty of Italian-style spritz.
There will be fresh pasta cooked daily by chef Valentina, with a £10 lunch deal, but there won't be a set menu as dishes will change daily. They'll also be launching 2-1 spritzes too, as well as plenty of familiar favourites, from fresh pasta and Italian deli produce to Caffè Crema, gelato, affogato and proper Italian coffee.
The family behind Salvi's are also the organisers for the popular Festa Italiana event, a huge city-wide celebration held each August in Cathedral Gardens with cooking demonstrations, food pop-ups and talks from renowned international chefs.
AMÒ by Salvi's officially opens at 12pm on Thursday, 13 August, at Deansgate Mews, Manchester.
