Reserve Wines takes over Tiny's Tipple in Chorlton

Reserve Wines, an award-winning wine bar and bottle shop, has announced it will open a new location in south Manchester after taking over Tiny's Tipple, a long-standing shop on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton.

The business first opened on Burton Road in Didsbury in 2003 and has since built a reputation for offering a varied selection of more than 400 wines from around the world. Last year, it was named one of the best businesses selling wines, spirits and beers in the country.

Expansion and New Location

Founded by wine expert Kate Goodman, Reserve Wines has expanded to locations at Altrincham Market, the Mackie Mayor food hall and The Picturedrome in Macclesfield. Its sites also offer tasting boards and wine tasting sessions throughout the year.

Earlier this week, Goodman announced that Reserve Wines would be coming to Chorlton, taking over the Tiny's Tipple shop on Wilbraham Road. The shop has been a mainstay of the area for nearly 14 years, but its owner, Ed Gillibrand, has decided to move to Devon.

Plans for the New Shop

In an announcement on social media, Goodman said: "Chorlton, we're coming to join you. We've taken over 510 Wilbraham Road, home of Ed's Tiny's Tipple for the last 14 years. Ed built something really special here, and we're going to keep that going while adding a few touches of our own. Thank you, Ed, and enjoy Devon."

The new shop will still be a bottle shop, but will have additional seating areas so people can stay for a drink, including wines by the glass. There will also be a small food menu with sharing boards and snacks sourced from local suppliers, including the nearby Chorlton Cheesemongers.

Events and Local Reaction

Once the shop opens, there will be a number of tasting sessions and events, as well as collaborations with local businesses and well-known brands. The owners intend to open in the middle of November, with an official date to be announced following renovation.

Following the online announcement, locals responded with excitement. One person said: "Such ace news!" Another said: "Amazing news, good luck with it all." One other commented: "Fantastic news! Congratulations and best of luck!"

Earlier this month, Reserve Wines was named in the shortlist for the Wine Offering of the Year award at this year's Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards, which recognise the best of the city-region's food and drink scene. The winners will be announced in January.

Highlighted by Harpers Wine & Spirit last year, Reserve Wines was named a 'North West Standout', championing it as a 'Northern powerhouse of the indie world' and praising it for its 'great service, unstuffy knowledge and ensuring that all who shop here have an enjoyable time, offering many exclusive and original finds'.
