Ocado Issues Urgent Recall for Nut Butter Over Metal Ball Bearings

Ocado has issued an urgent recall for Daylesford Organic Cacao Double Nut Butter after the product was found to potentially contain metal ball bearings. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that the contamination poses a choking hazard and makes the product unsafe to eat.

The recall applies to 230g jars with batch code 230625 and a best before date of February 2027. Customers are advised not to consume the product and to return it to the store for a full refund.

Metal ball bearings can cause choking, especially in children, and may also lead to skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. Inhalation of fine metal dust from the bearings could cause respiratory issues.

Ocado stated: “We are aware that Daylesford Organic has recalled one of its products. We have proactively contacted all customers who purchased it with further instructions.”

This recall follows a similar alert from Lidl GB in June for Harvest Basket Hash Browns due to potential metal contamination.
