Noni Madueke's Arsenal future looks uncertain as both Juventus and Atletico Madrid consider a January move for the winger, who has struggled for game time this season. Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas has effectively been given the green light to return to the club if he decides to pursue a managerial career at the Emirates Stadium.
Madueke's limited appearances
The 24-year-old, signed from Chelsea for £50million last summer, has made just two Premier League appearances so far, both from the bench, totalling only 27 minutes on the pitch. His only starts have come in the Community Shield and Arsenal's League Cup third-round victory over Ipswich last month.
This represents a significant change from this time last year, when Madueke had started four of Arsenal's opening five league games before a knee injury ruled him out. Despite his lack of action, Juventus and Atletico are both considering a move for the winger, who was omitted from Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad.
Loan deal likely
According to The Telegraph, any January deal would be a loan rather than a permanent transfer. Madueke still has almost four years remaining on his Arsenal contract, meaning the Gunners are under no immediate pressure to offload him.
However, if Mikel Arteta continues to overlook the former PSV man, a temporary move could give him the regular football he needs while allowing Arsenal to reassess the situation next summer.
Fabregas 'given green light'
Cesc Fabregas has effectively been given the green light to return to Arsenal if he decides to pursue a managerial career at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners icon has worked wonders since taking charge of Como in 2024 and reportedly has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for former clubs Barcelona, Arsenal or Chelsea without the need for a significant compensation payment.
Como president Mirwan Suwarso did not deny the existence of the clause when asked about it, instead insisting that Fabregas - who is also a minority shareholder in the club - will be free to take the next step in his career whenever he feels the time is right.
"He doesn't need a clause to go anywhere he wants," Suwarso told Piers Morgan's Football Uncensored show. "In a business like this, he's a friend more than anything else. He can go wherever he wants, whenever he wants."
Having spent the bulk of his playing career at Arsenal, it is perhaps inevitable that Fabregas will be linked with the manager's job at his former club. His reputation has only grown since moving into coaching, with the Spaniard helping Como secure promotion to Serie A in 2024 before guiding them to their highest-ever league finish of fourth last season and a place in the Champions League for the first time in their history.
However, there is little reason for Arsenal to be considering a change in the dugout while Arteta continues to deliver. The Spaniard shows no signs of wanting to leave either, meaning a Fabregas return to north London may have to wait for now.
