A new coffee shop and crafting venue is set to open its doors in Prescot, Merseyside. Clare Thoday-Parry, 51, from Huyton, is behind the upcoming venue alongside her three daughters: Ava, Sasha and Amber. Cassa, located at 12 Church Street, will be the family's first business venture.
From passion to business
Clare told the ECHO she reached a point where she decided she "needed to do something for herself." As keen crafters, the family decided to turn their passion into a place where visitors could "get away from phones, chill out and do something enjoyable."
The ground floor will be a coffee shop offering hot drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, cakes, and snacks. Crafts will be available downstairs, while the first floor will serve as the central craft area. Future plans include workshops and a second-floor space dedicated to parties and events.
Community excitement
Clare said: "As the girls have grown up, I've always tried to keep them creative and doing other things, even if it is canvas painting or painting tiles. My middle daughter is doing an arts course, they've all gone that way. I just think in this day and age we're all on our phones. It's just a way of us getting away, chatting with our friends, and being more creative. It's something we enjoy, and there's not a massive amount of places to do it. So we thought we'd have a go and do it ourselves."
The community has shown eagerness to see the new business. Clare added: "It's lovely. I don't think [the building has] been open for over a year, so people just want to see what's going on and are saying they will pop in for a coffee or the crafts. The pub across the road has introduced themselves, so has the hairdressers down the road. It seems like a really nice community to be in."
