Marks & Spencer's £12 Big Daddy Advent Calendar has been criticised by shoppers and a food reviewer for lacking variety, as it contains just two flavours across its 24 doors.
The festive treat includes 12 mini Big Daddy Peanut Bites and 12 mini Big Daddy Pistachio Bites, with a full-sized Little Big Daddy Peanut Bar behind door 25 on Christmas Day.
Reviewer's Verdict
Food reviewer Big Daddy B, who has 274,000 followers, tested the calendar and highlighted the limited flavour selection as a significant drawback. In a reel, he said: "Behind each door, you get a little Big Daddy chocolate. Only two flavours on offer, which I think is a shame as there's not much variety there at all."
He added: "You do get a special one on day 25, so a decent bonus there, and it's a Big Daddy peanut bar." The reviewer concluded: "Overall, I think it's a decent calendar, but unfortunately for me, it did lack variety and I really don't enjoy calendars where you only get the same thing every single day or in this case, two different things."
Shopper Reactions
Despite acknowledging the chocolate is "pretty damn good," Big Daddy B awarded the calendar 7/10. The review post gained over 2,000 likes, with many commenters agreeing.
One person wrote: "I'm with you on this as I like variety in Advent Calendars. I saw this in M&S and once I found out only 2 bars I was disappointed. Great review as usual!" Another commented: "They deffo missed a trick there, min of four flavours required. They failed on your name sake I am afraid." A third said: "Charging £12 for 2 different chocs is ridiculous."
However, not all were put off, with one shopper confessing they "needed" the calendar and another stating: "I love these chocolates."
