M&S Launches 'Nutrient Dense' Food Range for Weight-Loss Medication Users
M&S launches new food range for weight-loss jab users

Marks & Spencer is launching a specialised new line of food specifically designed for the growing number of Britons using weight-loss injections.

A Range for Reduced Appetites

The high street retailer announced its Nutrient Dense range, comprising 20 different products, is formulated to help customers meet their daily recommended intake of fibre, vitamins, and minerals even when eating less. M&S stated the meals and snacks are ideal for those with a lower appetite, including people taking GLP-1 weight-loss medication like Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Annette Peters, Head of Food Trends at M&S, explained the thinking behind the launch. "We know the use of GLP-1 medications is growing, so it’s more important than ever to ensure that even if people are eating smaller portions, we help provide them with the right level of nutrients," she said.

What's in the New Range?

The collection includes a variety of items aimed at packing nutrition into every bite. One standout product is an H5O shot, which contains five botanical ingredients verified by scientists at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

The full range also features:

  • Coconut water and cold-pressed ginger juice.
  • Fruit and vegetable fibre supplements.
  • Sea moss.
  • Salads and prepared meals.
  • A Super Seeded Oaty Bread.

M&S emphasised that these are nutrient-dense foods, meaning they offer a high concentration of vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial components relative to their calorie content.

Responding to a Dramatic Market Shift

The launch is a direct response to a surge in the use of prescription weight-loss drugs. Data from life science analytics firm IQVIA, provided to The Telegraph, reveals a sharp increase in purchases.

2.49 million packs of Mounjaro and Wegovy were bought in July 2025, a massive jump from just 493,000 in July the previous year. Sales reportedly rose by another million between July and August, though this was partly attributed to stockpiling ahead of a September price hike.

It is estimated that roughly 90% of users currently pay for these treatments privately through online services and high street pharmacies. While the NHS has begun its roll-out of Mounjaro, access remains tightly restricted, with the health service planning to treat around 240,000 people over three years.

M&S also cited recent government research, the National Diet and Nutrition Survey 2025, which found that 96% of the UK population does not meet the daily fibre recommendation, highlighting a widespread nutritional gap.

The Nutrient Dense range will be available in M&S Foodhalls from January 5.
