Outdoor retail giant Mountain Warehouse has unveiled ambitious plans to open 50 new stores across the UK, creating 500 new jobs in local communities. The expansion marks a significant boost for the high street as the brand continues to grow its presence nationwide.
The company, known for its affordable outdoor clothing and equipment, is targeting both major cities and smaller towns for its new locations. This move comes as part of its strategy to make outdoor gear more accessible to everyone.
Job Creation and Economic Boost
With each new store expected to employ around 10 people, the expansion will provide a welcome employment boost in areas where new branches open. The roles will cover a range of positions from retail assistants to management roles.
"We're thrilled to be bringing new jobs to communities across the country," said a company spokesperson. "Our growth reflects the UK's continued love for the outdoors and our commitment to serving customers where they live."
Continued High Street Commitment
Unlike many retailers shifting focus to online sales, Mountain Warehouse remains committed to physical stores. The new openings will complement their existing 300+ UK stores and growing international presence.
The company has not yet revealed specific locations for all new stores but confirmed they will be spread across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This expansion follows a successful year for the outdoor retailer, which has seen increased demand for its products as more people embrace outdoor activities post-pandemic.
