McDonald’s Brings Back Noughties Cornetto McFlurry After 17 Years
McDonald’s Revives Cornetto McFlurry After 17 Years

After disappearing from the McDonald’s menu nearly two decades ago, a beloved McFlurry flavour is making a comeback. Inspired by a beloved sweet treat, the Cornetto McFlurry will be available on the summer menu. It’s reportedly being brought back in not one, but two, classic flavours, according to The Sun, which will be available in-store from July 14.

Two Flavours Return

There’ll be a strawberry Cornetto McFlurry, featuring strawberry sauce and crispy chunks of wafer, and a chocolate version, complete with chocolate chunks, chocolate sauce, and crispy wafer chunks. Fans are extremely excited by the return of the dessert on social media, with comments such as: ‘My god I hope this is true! They’re back.’ Others said they were ‘all over this’ and ‘can you believe it’s been 17 years’. Another eager fan wrote on Facebook: ‘Now we’re talking.’

History and Limited-Time Return

The McFlurry flavours were originally discontinued in 2009 after being a seasonal promotion but are now back for a limited time once more. This follows a smashing line-up of new and returning goodies to the McDonald’s menu in June, including brand-new crunchy cheese bites filled with Gouda and mozzarella, and the returning Galaxy salted caramel McFlurry.

A Vanilla Matcha Frappe hit the menu on June 2, riding the everlasting wave of matcha hype, while a brand new burger – the sweet Carolina BBQ stack – hit the menu on June 9 for the World Cup. And, of course, we couldn’t leave out the Mexican chipotle chicken, which is a crispy chicken burger with a smoky sauce and chipotle mayo. What’s more is the bun looks a little like a football.

Other Menu Changes

But it’s not all been sunshine and rainbows in the McDonald’s world. Wrap of the Day, a beloved 15-year-long promotion was renamed to ‘Wrap in the App’ which will force customers to use the McDonald’s app to take advantage of the deal. Unlike Wrap of the Day, you can only use the offer once per day, and you can only redeem it between 11am and 11pm, and this change certainly ruffled some feathers.

Metro has contacted McDonald’s for comment regarding the July additions to the summer menu, including more details on the beloved returning Cornetto McFlurries. We’re dreaming of that crunchy chocolatey goodness already.
