City Cool on Gusto Move

Manchester City are not expected to pursue a deal for Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto this summer, despite reports that his representatives have contacted the Premier League champions. The 23-year-old French defender is valued at £75 million, and Chelsea are not forcing an exit, making a move to the Etihad unlikely.

City are keen to add competition at right back for Matheus Nunes, who impressed last season after converting from midfield. Nunes, under contract until 2028, is the clear first choice heading into the new campaign.

Alternative Targets Identified

Instead of Gusto, City are more likely to sign a young defender capable of developing into a first-team option. Feyenoord's Givairo Read is a player of interest, with City looking for a long-term prospect who can challenge Nunes in the short term.

City have already seen two bids for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson rejected, with the second worth £120 million. Chelsea also hold an interest in Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali.

Enzo Maresca's Arrival

Enzo Maresca is set to be confirmed as Chelsea's new manager, inheriting a squad that won two domestic trophies last season and pushed Arsenal to the final week of the Premier League title race. Despite that success, additions are expected.

City were earlier linked with Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez, but that move is not of interest to the Blues. Meanwhile, Chelsea's swoop for Atalanta defender Marco Palestra has added extra competition in defence, potentially limiting Gusto's opportunities.
