Malibu Sun Cream Maker Enters Administration After Fire
Malibu Sun Cream Maker in Administration After Fire

Malibu Health Products Limited, the company behind the Malibu suncream range stocked by major UK retailers, entered administration in mid-October 2026 following a devastating warehouse fire. Administrators confirmed that a rescue deal has secured the brand's future with no job losses.

Administration After Warehouse Fire

The company, which had operated for 27 years, appointed Marco Piacquadio and Rachel Ennis of FTS Recovery Limited as administrators on October 15, 2026. The fire struck the company's trading and manufacturing warehouse on August 11, destroying crucial stock, raw materials, and specialist machinery overnight.

An FTS Recovery spokesperson explained that the insurance firm requires a lengthy investigation before settling the claim, leaving the business unable to manufacture goods or operate normally in the interim. The company's range, which included sun lotion and tanning oils, was stocked by retailers including Morrisons, The Range, Home Bargains, TK Maxx, Savers and Poundstretcher.

Brand Continues Under New Ownership

Administrators confirmed that on the date of their appointment, the goodwill of the business was transferred to a new business operated by the director. A spokesperson said: "On the date of the administrators' appointment, a sale of the goodwill of the business was transferred to a new business operated by the director."

No jobs are being lost throughout the process. All nine head office staff are moving across to the new company, with their contracts, pay, and legal workplace protections remaining fully intact. A spokesperson added: "All manufacturing jobs (numbering around 30) that are employed by a separate company within the group have been unaffected by the administration and the transfer."

Manufacturing and IP Unaffected

The brand's manufacturing arm, Malibu Manufacturing Ltd, along with the entity holding its intellectual property, remains entirely unaffected by the administration process. The new purchasing entity is currently finalising distribution arrangements and holding talks with suppliers to ensure Malibu continues to operate on a business-as-usual basis.
