Lidl's £70 Ice Cream Maker Rivals Ninja's £200 Creami Device

Lidl has launched a new kitchen appliance that could save shoppers over £100 compared to a popular Ninja model. The Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker, priced at £69.99, offers similar functions to Ninja's Creami device, which sells for £199.99. The Lidl gadget hit shelves on Thursday, July 16, and allows users to create ice cream, milkshakes, and more at home.

Features and Programs

The Lidl ice cream maker comes with six preset programs: Ice Cream, Lite Ice Cream, Sorbet, Gelato, Smoothie Bowl, and Milkshake. It also includes options to add extra toppings or re-spin the mixture for a smoother consistency. According to Lidl, customers simply need to "fill, freeze, stir and enjoy" to create frozen treats. The machine includes three preparation cups and a recipe booklet to help users get started.

The release follows a similar device from Aldi, the AMBIANO Ice Cream Machine, also priced at £69.99. Aldi's version offers 10 preset programs, including Frozen Yogurt, Frozen Drink, Slushie, and Coffeecino, as well as a self-cleaning function and dishwasher-safe accessories. Both supermarkets emphasize that stock is limited and unlikely to be restocked once sold out.

Comparison to Ninja Creami

Ninja's original Creami device is priced at £199.99, making Lidl's version £130 cheaper. While the Ninja model may offer additional features, the Lidl and Aldi alternatives provide a budget-friendly option for consumers looking to make homemade frozen treats this summer. A Lidl spokesperson said the machine creates "delicious creamy treats in just a few minutes."

Shoppers can find the Silvercrest Premium Freezy Ice Cream Maker in Lidl's middle aisle, alongside other kitchen appliances like air fryers, juicers, and electric mixers. The Aldi AMBIANO Ice Cream Machine is also available in stores while supplies last. Customers are advised to check in-store leaflets or the Lidl Plus app for upcoming offers.
