Lidl's £18 Steam Cleaner Hits Stores October 25

Lidl shoppers can buy a chemical-free cleaning gadget that promises to tackle "hard-to-reach" spots throughout the home. The Silvercrest Handheld Steam Cleaner will be available in all stores from Sunday, October 25, for under £20.

The supermarket describes this "easy-to-use" device, priced at £17.99, as one that "produces a powerful jet of steam for a deep clean". Rather than relying on vigorous scrubbing, the gadget works to "clean, disinfect and degrease" a wide range of surfaces using hot steam alone.

What the Steam Cleaner Offers

Lidl says the tool is ideal for "refreshing upholstery and textiles", as well as keeping taps, basins, mirrors and tiles looking "shiny". The cleaner uses "no chemicals or cleaning agents", depending entirely on steam to shift dirt in "hard-to-reach areas".

The retailer adds that every kit includes a seven-piece accessory set, which includes an extension nozzle, angled nozzle, upholstery nozzle, fabric cover, round brush, extension hose, and measuring cup. The device has been described as "small, handy and easy to store".

Comparison with Other Retailers

There are a variety of steam cleaners available elsewhere online. Amazon is selling the Tower Handheld Steam Cleaner (£30), and Dunelm is offering shoppers the Beldray 15-in-1 Steam Cleaner (£55), reports the Mirror.

Those who take advantage of the Lidl deal could therefore save as much as £37 compared with purchasing from leading brands. However, the offer will end once stock is gone, as the supermarket rarely gets more items after they sell out.

Other New Lidl Gadgets

The supermarket is launching a range of cleaning gadgets across all stores this week (Sunday, October 25). Among them is the Silvercrest Ultrasonic Cleaner, part of the retailer's latest middle aisle offering.

According to the supermarket, it works effectively on "jewellery, make-up brushes, coins, glasses, retainers, dentures and more". The machine includes a "practical timer" function with an LED display, offering cleaning cycles of 90, 180, 300, 480 and 600 seconds.

The 500ml capacity tank is supplied with a "plastic basket and integrated watch holder". Lidl notes that the cleaning device uses just 50W of electricity, meaning even during its longest cleaning programme, a 600-second cycle costs around 0.22p in electricity.
