Lidl has issued an urgent recall for two of its popular chocolate desserts after discovering they contain milk not listed on the packaging. The move comes as a precautionary measure to protect customers with dairy allergies or intolerances from potential health risks.
Affected Products
The supermarket chain is recalling:
- Lidl Deluxe Chocolate & Hazelnut Mousse (200g)
- Lidl Deluxe Chocolate & Salted Caramel Mousse (200g)
Both products have a best-before date of 31 December 2024.
Why the Recall?
The desserts were found to contain milk that wasn't declared in the ingredients list. This poses a significant risk to individuals with milk allergies or lactose intolerance, who might experience severe allergic reactions after consumption.
What Customers Should Do
Lidl has advised customers who have purchased these products and have a milk allergy to:
- Return the items to their nearest Lidl store for a full refund
- Contact Lidl's customer service for further information
The retailer has apologised for any inconvenience caused and emphasised its commitment to food safety standards.
Allergy Warning Signs
Symptoms of milk allergy can include:
- Hives or skin rash
- Swelling of the lips, face or throat
- Difficulty breathing
- Nausea or vomiting
In severe cases, milk allergies can trigger anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction requiring immediate medical attention.
