Lidl has issued an urgent product recall for its Deluxe Red Cabbage with Apple, Dried Cranberries and Spices (480g) because the label fails to declare that it contains milk. Customers with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents are warned the product poses a possible health risk.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall on Tuesday 6 January, stating that all batches and use-by dates are affected. Lidl has notified allergy support organisations and has put up point-of-sale notices in stores to explain the issue.
Shoppers who have bought the product and have a milk allergy are advised not to eat it. Lidl said customers can return the item to any store for a full refund. No other products in the retailer's Deluxe range are affected.

The recall comes as Nestle withdraws several batches of its SMA infant formula products over concerns they may contain cereulide toxin, which can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. The FSA has advised parents and caregivers not to feed affected products to infants.
