Lidl is launching a set of three "atmospheric" LED decorative spheres for £7.99 as part of its weekly Special Buy refresh, offering a budget-friendly alternative to a similar £45 set from Next.
The Livarno LED Decorative Spheres will be available from Sunday, November 8. They are battery-operated, so they can be placed anywhere in the house without needing a plug socket. Lidl describes the spheres as "made from high-quality glass with warm white light."
Key Features and Design
Other key features include a six-hour timer with automatic daily repetition, the ability to switch on at a desired time and start the timer, manual on/off control, and indoor use only. Lidl includes all nine necessary batteries in the box.
The Lidl set is seen as a budget alternative to the Laura Ashley Crackled Glass Lit Ornaments at Next. Next says: "This charming Set of Three Laura Ashley Crackled Glass Lit Ornaments casts a warm, inviting glow that transforms any mantel or tabletop into a cosy winter retreat. When illuminated, each ornament reveals an intricate forest scene straight from a snow-dusted fairy tale."
Cost Comparison
Both options feature three gold, crackled-glass globes that emit a warm white glow. They share the same sizing footprint, measuring 10cm, 12cm, and 15cm in diameter. The Lidl set costs £7.99, while the Next version costs £45, saving shoppers around £37.
The Next set requires buyers to purchase eight batteries separately, adding a hidden cost. The Lidl globes come with a built-in six-hour automatic daily timer to save battery life.
Design Differences
One compromise with the cheaper option is the level of design detail. When illuminated, the Next spheres display an intricate, hidden woodland forest scene within the glass. The Lidl spheres do not have this silhouette and simply emit a classic, textured glow.
Because they achieve the same warm, festive atmosphere from across the room, the Lidl set is the smarter buy for a budget-conscious shopper.
