Lidl customers will soon have the chance to buy a 2kg candle that bears a striking resemblance to a luxury version priced at £125. The budget supermarket's wallet-friendly homeware item goes on sale within days.
Lidl's New XL Candle Details
The retailer's Jasmine, Wild Orchid and Soft Musk XL Confetti Murano Candle arrives in stores on Thursday, October 15. Weighing in at 2kg, the £24.99 candle is housed in a substantial patterned glass jar and boasts an estimated burn time of 129 hours - approximately 5.4 days of continuous use.
The candle jar's design bears a notable resemblance to the Baobab Black Pearls Jar Scented Candle stocked at John Lewis. The premium alternative, commanding £125 for a 1kg variant, showcases a remarkably similar speckled finish.
Comparing the Two Candles
Though the fragrances differ between the two candles, their glass vessels share striking similarities. The Baobab offering blends notes of ginger and black rose.
In its product description, John Lewis states: "In a transparent hand-blown glass with black details, the Black Pearls scented candle is as precious as the black pearls from which it draws its name. It is a magnificent decorative object with an iconic perfume."
For those less drawn to the floral aroma of Lidl's initial offering, there's the Tonka, Vanilla Bean and Amber Sugar alternative (also £24.99). This version sports a comparable pattern but replaces the black-and-white aesthetic with a rich honey yellow glass. Smaller versions of both candles are available for £3.99.
Other Lidl Arrivals
That same week, shoppers will find a brand new selection of special deals in the Middle of Lidl. Thursday's fresh arrivals showcase a pet event, kitchen kit, plants and outdoor walking equipment.
Before all the upcoming releases, Lidl updates its range on Sunday, October 11. Among the highlights is an affordable gadget that whips up "perfect" smoothies, soups and plenty more. It resembles and performs like a pricier Ninja alternative, but comes in at a mere fraction of the cost.
Lidl's Silvercrest Premium Jug Blender will feature in the supermarket's upcoming kitchen promotion, landing in branches from Sunday, October 11. The device will set customers back £59.99 - or only £49.99 when they scan the Lidl Plus app at the till.
