KFC is set to bring its innovative fast-food spinoff, Saucy by KFC, to Texas, marking a significant expansion beyond its initial launch in Florida. The new restaurant, described by parent company Yum! Brands as a "sauce and sides forward" concept, will open in Frisco, Texas, later this year, offering a unique dining experience centered on creative flavors and late-night vibes.
Texas Location and Construction Details
A free-standing 2,780-square-foot Saucy by KFC is planned at the intersection of U.S. 380 and FM 423 in northern Frisco, according to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The $4 million project is scheduled for construction between mid-June and mid-November, as reported by The Chron. This updated plan replaces earlier filings from mid-2025 for a larger 3,900-square-foot version in the same area, which was originally estimated at $3.5 million, according to the Dallas Business Journal.
Menu and Sauce Innovations
First launched in Orlando, Florida, in December 2024, Saucy by KFC places sauces and sides at the heart of its menu, allowing customers to experiment with inventive flavor combinations. Alongside classic chicken tenders, the restaurant debuted with 11 sauces, a nod to KFC's Original Recipe 11 herbs and spices. The current sauce lineup includes sweet teriyaki, creole honey mustard, and smokey bacon ranch. Menu highlights feature tendie-loaded mac and fries, sauced Brussels bites, saucy chick'ito tacos, and snack sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls.
KFC Chief New Concept Officer Christophe Poirier emphasized the creative freedom of the concept, stating, "With Saucy, we've taken KFC's famous Original Recipe and amplified it with a brand-new concept that lets consumers play with flavor. You can pick a combo, choose a flight of sauces, or mix sauces and sides to create your perfect meal." He added, "Being sauce-focused allows us to be as creative as we want," highlighting the brand's commitment to culinary innovation.
Unique Dining Experience and Late-Night Transformation
What sets Saucy by KFC apart is its vibrant pink color scheme and its transformation into a lively late-night spot starting at 8 p.m. each evening. With dimmed lights and louder music, the restaurant offers "vibe dining" until closing at 11 p.m., catering to night owls seeking indulgent treats. The late-night menu includes items like the Kitchen Sink Grand'ito, a large burrito loaded with chicken tenders, queso, fries, and a fried egg.
Expansion Strategy and Florida Success
The Texas location is part of a broader plan to expand Saucy by KFC beyond Florida, where it currently operates six locations with 13 more slated to open. Many of these new Florida outlets are replacing closed PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) restaurants, as reported by Gulfshore Business. This strategic move underscores KFC's efforts to tap into new markets and diversify its fast-food offerings with a focus on experiential dining.
As Saucy by KFC prepares to make its Texas debut, food enthusiasts can look forward to a fresh take on fast food that prioritizes customization, creativity, and community atmosphere. The expansion reflects a growing trend in the industry towards niche concepts that blend traditional favorites with modern twists, appealing to a wide range of consumers seeking unique culinary adventures.
