KFC is bringing its sauce-centric spinoff, Saucy by KFC, to Texas later this year, marking its first expansion beyond Florida. A permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation outlines plans for a 2,780-square-foot restaurant in Frisco, north of Dallas, with construction expected from mid-June to mid-November at a cost of $4 million.
This new location replaces an earlier proposal for a larger 3,900-square-foot site in the same area, which was estimated at $3.5 million. The concept, described by parent company Yum! Brands as “sauce and sides forward,” first launched in Orlando, Florida, in December 2024.
Saucy by KFC offers 11 sauces—a nod to KFC’s Original Recipe’s 11 herbs and spices—alongside classic chicken tenders and inventive sides. Menu highlights include sweet teriyaki, creole honey mustard, and smokey bacon ranch sauces, as well as items like tendie-loaded mac and fries, sauced Brussels bites, and saucy chick’ito tacos.
The restaurant features a bright pink colour scheme and transforms into a late-night spot from 8pm to 11pm, with dimmed lights and louder music for “vibe dining.” The late-night menu includes indulgent options such as the Kitchen Sink Grand’ito, a tortilla loaded with chicken tenders, queso, fries, and a fried egg.
Florida currently has six Saucy by KFC locations, with 13 more planned, many replacing former PDQ restaurants. Christophe Poirier, KFC’s chief new concept officer, said the concept allows customers to “play with flavour” by mixing sauces and sides to create custom meals.
