JD Sports Opens Largest Scottish Store at The Centre in Livingston

JD Sports, known as the King of Trainers, opened its largest store in Scotland at The Centre in Livingston on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The new flagship branch spans 15,500 square feet, a significant upgrade from the previous 9,500-square-foot unit that first opened in 2008. The relocation brings the store closer to the shopping centre's main entrance, responding to high customer demand.

Launch Celebrations and Shopper Rewards

To mark the opening, the first 50 customers received goodie bags and a gift voucher worth £50 or more. Launch celebrations are set to continue until Sunday, July 12, featuring a live DJ and a Spin to Win competition at the front of the mall. Prizes include cash to spend in-store, exclusive keyrings, and brand-new trainers.

Larissa Fleming, a shopper from Livingston, said: “The new store looks amazing—it is really bright with a lovely layout and has a fantastic selection of trainers and clothing. I just had to treat myself to a new pair of On Cloud trainers which I’ve had my eye on for a while.”

Tammy Wilson, shopping with her son Rory, added: “It was great to pop into the new-look store this morning, which my son is a big fan of. He picked out a really nice pair of Montirex shorts and a t-shirt, but I have a feeling we’ll be back again very soon—we loved it!”

Expansion Amid Store Closures

The opening comes shortly after JD Sports closed all of its Hip stores, a premium streetwear and menswear retailer owned by the company. Hip's operations are now exclusively online. JD Sports currently operates over 350 UK stores, with the new Livingston branch being its largest in Scotland.
