Home Bargains is selling a haircare product for £1.49 that bears a striking resemblance to a popular £22 beauty brand. The discount chain's Olail Infused With Honey Hair Oil promises 'healthy, shiny hair' and is being compared to Gisou's Honey Infused Hair Oil, which retails at £22.
Product Comparison
The Olail hair oil is a 100ml treatment described as 'simple, natural care that leaves your hair looking its best every day.' In contrast, Gisou's product, available on Space NK, controls frizz and hydrates hair for up to 72 hours, adding instant shine. It also protects against heat damage up to 230°C and can be used as a mask booster, overnight treatment, or pre/post-styling product.
Home Bargains' offering is significantly cheaper, but the Gisou version has a proven track record with an average rating of 4.2 out of five on Space NK. One reviewer said: 'This product smells divine and is soft and silky in texture. It is easy to apply (you only need a small amount) and produces fantastic results. Hair is left looking healthy, bouncy, and shiny.' Another added: 'It is not too heavy on the hair and doesn't weigh it down, it sinks in very well and leaves a lovely softness/texture, and the smell is subtle and sweet.'
Budget Alternative
While the products are not identical, Home Bargains may have a crowdpleaser for shoppers seeking a budget-friendly alternative. The Mirror reports that the bargain chain's hair oil is cheaper than the Gisou option, which often goes viral on social media. However, buyers of the more expensive product can browse numerous reviews before purchasing.
