Black Sheep Coffee Plans to Replace Haute Dolci on Bold Street

A planning application submitted to Liverpool City Council has revealed that popular coffee chain Black Sheep Coffee intends to occupy the former Haute Dolci premises on Bold Street. The luxury restaurant closed its doors last month, leaving a notice stating it was temporarily shut due to an incident requiring a full building inspection.

Haute Dolci, which opened in August 2023, occupied the historic site that was previously a Waterstones bookshop. The venue had remained vacant for several years before the restaurant took over. The notice on the door read: “We are temporarily closed. A pause, not a goodbye. An incident within the building has required us to close while specialists complete a full inspection. We will reopen the moment we can be certain that everything is exactly as it ought to be. Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience.” The Liverpool Echo reached out to Haute Dolci for comment but received no response.

Proposed Internal Refurbishment

The planning application details minor internal refurbishment works only, limited to cosmetic improvements. No external alterations, extensions, or changes to the existing use are proposed. The scale, height, and volume of the building will remain unchanged. Internal works include replacing wall and floor finishes, installing new retail furniture, shelving, and display fixtures, along with new lighting and decorative finishes as needed. The Black Sheep Coffee logo and name would be displayed above the entrance in the company's signature style.
