Harry Ramsden's fish and chips launch at 32 Morrisons cafés

Harry Ramsden's has launched its famous fish, chips and mushy peas at 32 Morrisons cafés across the UK since last week. The rollout began on August 10, with locations including Leeds, Reading, Leicester, Exeter, and one in Wales at Porth.

Partnership expands brand reach

The project operates under Harry Ramsden's 'Proudly Serving' partnership model, which has previously allowed the brand to expand into major retailers like Iceland. This marks the first time the fish and chips will be served in Morrisons cafés, though it's not the first collaboration between the two companies.

Since September 2025, a range of Harry Ramsden's products has been available in Morrisons' chilled aisle and on its website, including battered cod fillets, chunky fish fingers, steak pies, mushy peas, curry sauce, and gravy.

Executives highlight opportunity

Chief Executive James Fleming described the café partnership as a significant chance to present the brand to millions of new customers through a reputable nationwide supermarket chain. He said the partnership would broaden access to its fish and chips while maintaining quality and tradition.

Will Reed, Morrisons senior café trading manager, said: "Harry Ramsden's is an iconic British brand, and we're excited to introduce its famous fish and chips to customers in our cafés this summer." He added that the supermarket aims to offer customers the "comforting taste of a classic chippy tea" with generous servings and outstanding value.

Heritage and current presence

Harry Ramsden's has built its reputation as "the home of world-famous fish and chips" since 1928, when it started as a wooden hut in Guiseley, West Yorkshire. On its 21st birthday, founder Harry Ramsden hosted "the big fry," serving over 1,000 portions of fish and chips in one day, setting a world record at the time.

Today, there are eight standalone Harry Ramsden's restaurants, all located in England. However, its products are available in over 2,000 shops across nine countries.
