Paros Greek Restaurant in Heaton, Newcastle, has announced it will close its doors for good on 24 October 2026, after five years of serving Greek food on Chillingham Road. The restaurant, which holds a 4.9-star rating on both Google reviews and TripAdvisor, shared the news in a Facebook post titled "A Heartfelt Thank You from Paros Greek Restaurant".
A local favourite bids farewell
Customers flooded the comments to express their sadness at the closure. One wrote: "So sad to read this, you've always made my husband and I so welcome and your food has never disappointed." Another said: "So very sad to hear this - Paros has always been a special place for us."
The team's statement read: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce Paros Greek Restaurant will be closing its doors, with our final trading day on Saturday, 24th October 2026. Our journey began in February 2021, during one of the most challenging times, in the middle of the Covid pandemic."
Gratitude and next steps
They added: "Despite the obstacles, we managed to create something truly special, filled with love, Greek flavours and unforgettable memories. Paros has never been just a restaurant to us. It has been our dream, our second home, and a place where so many wonderful memories have been made."
The team thanked customers and staff, and pointed to their other ventures: "We look forward to welcoming you at Salparo Greek Restaurant in Newcastle city centre, and at our Kalimera Bakeries in Gosforth and Newcastle city centre." Both Salparo and Kalimera boast near 5-star ratings, with the Newcastle city centre bakery opening to rave reviews.
Until 24 October, the restaurant will welcome customers for "one last meal, a few more memories and a chance to say thank you in person". The team signed off: "But before we say goodbye, there's one more thing… Every ending is the beginning of something new. Who knows what the future holds for this little corner we've called home?
