Shoppers looking to cut heating costs after Ofgem's energy price cap rise can now buy the Livio Electric Heated Blanket for £27 at Yimbly, down from £39.99, after a discount code is applied.
The blanket, which retails at £33.99 on Amazon, is available in the colour 'Sand', a neutral beige that suits sofas or beds. According to the brand, it costs as little as 4p an hour to run, based on an average electricity unit rate of 26.32p/kWh under the Ofgem energy price cap for October to December 2026.
Features and savings
The Livio Electric Heated Blanket offers nine heat settings and a one to nine hour timer with an automatic shut-off system. It comes with a digital controller for time and temperature, which can be detached so the blanket can be machine washed, a useful feature for households with pets or children.
For those who prefer a darker shade, Lakeland's StaySnug Sherpa Electric Heated Throw in dark grey costs on average 26p a day to run and also offers nine heat settings.
Shopper reviews
Customers have praised the blanket at Yimbly. One reviewer said: "Was very surprised at how fast the delivery arrived. Also the blanket seemed very soft and smooth." Another wrote: "I have a couple of other electric blankets. The Livivo from Yimbly is the best. Good settings - even on 'low' the whole of the blanket warms up. Others are patchy. Very soft fabric and good length plug wire. Very good value."
On Amazon, a buyer shared: "Love to snuggle on the sofa with this throw, means I can turn the heating lower and save energy and money!" Another shopper noted a drawback with the controls: "Big disappointment that to turn on the switch is at the side of the controller instead of press button on the front. As I have arthritis in my fingers I find it difficult to turn on."
Alternatives and final verdict
A further customer described the blanket as "the best £45 I've ever spent", noting it keeps them warm on the sofa without needing the heating on. Silentnight's Heat Genie Self Heating Giant Blanket (£34.99 at Amazon) offers an alternative that does not need plugging in, using a heat reflecting foil layer to reflect body heat back, though it heats up more slowly and costs nothing to run after purchase.
Another buyer concluded: "Love this heated blanket, my partner bought it for me as he wont allow the heating on as it's too expensive! Thank goodness for this, I use it all the time in winter. It's a good size and lovely and soft and is very cheap to run."
