Coffee King is expanding again, this time into a building that has lain empty for months. Following the success of its Liverpool ONE location, the family-run business is now opening a café on Myrtle Street in the heart of the Georgian Quarter.
The new venue is located within one of the city's most vibrant and culturally rich neighbourhoods, in the former space long-occupied by Starbucks before it closed last year.
CEO on the new location
CEO and Founder of Coffee King, Sean Le Tissier said: "We're delighted to be opening our second Liverpool location.
"The Georgian Quarter has a fantastic atmosphere, with its mix of culture, history and student life, and being so close to the Philharmonic and the city's universities makes it the perfect place for us.
"We wanted to create a space where people can study, work, meet friends and enjoy great coffee at an affordable price. We're looking forward to becoming part of the local community and welcoming customers through our doors."
What the café offers
At the new space, customers can enjoy speciality coffee, signature savoury croissants and a range of freshly baked cakes, alongside free Wi-Fi, ample plug sockets and seating.
To support Liverpool's large student community, Coffee King will also introduce exclusive student offers and discounts throughout the academic year.
To celebrate the opening on Tuesday, September 1, the first 50 customers through the door on launch day will receive a free barista-made drink.
Expansion across the region
The Cheshire-based and family-run business can already be found elsewhere over the region. It has a presence in Liverpool ONE, near the recognisable grass steps, West Kirby, and Southport's Lord Street.
The brand's flagship store is in Halifax but it is understood another cafe is expected to open in Warrington. There are also plans for a state-of-the-art, full coffee roasting solutions centre in Deeside, Wales.
Sean founded his coffee empire in 2016 after a successful career heading up European IT and telecoms companies. The 60-year-old dad said: "My ambition is to establish Coffee King locations in all major cities, sharing my vision of the perfect cup of coffee with everyone.
"Our love for coffee inspires us to continuously enhance our blends and innovate our product offerings. As a British company, we're proud to bring our traditions to the high street."
