Plans for a new Bus Yard food and drinks bar are set to be decided on by councillors. The brand, which has made a name for itself with popular sites across Merseyside, could soon open a new location in Wirral.
If plans are approved, a new Bus Yard could soon be established at the North Wirral Coastal Country Park near New Brighton. The site, including a static bus, containers, and seating would be a seasonal fixture between April and August each year.
Proposed location and setup
The site would be established on a portion of Wallasey Beach promenade close to Wallasey Golf Club and West Cheshire Sailing Club. Documents submitted to the council explain The Bus Yard has been appointed through a council tender process. Between April 1 and August 30 each year a bus and a collection of repurposed containers would serve the likes of Greek food, desserts, and drinks.
It is said it would take around five days to clear the site after the end of August. The removals would be planned and managed to minimise disruption to surrounding areas. Between each August and April the area would be returned to its original condition.
Background and council requirements
The Bus Yard has established itself as a summer fixture on Crosby beach for the last few years. On The Bus Yard, submitted plans say: "Since launching in 2021, the business has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality environments that enhance the locations they occupy while supporting local economies and community life."
Their work is grounded in the belief that hospitality, when carefully executed, can elevate a place; shaping how people experience it, how long they stay, and how often they return. A council report into the plans states: "The land is owned by Wirral Borough Council and the applicant will therefore be required to adhere to certain requirements, including the control of windblown sand, litter and the general upkeep of the site."
Decision meeting
The plans are set to be discussed at a meeting of Wirral Council's planning committee later in the week. Meeting at Wallasey Town Hall, the committee will decide whether planning permission should be granted for the scheme.
