B&Q and other major DIY and homeware retailers have announced their festive opening hours for Christmas and New Year. Shoppers planning to visit stores such as Wickes, The Range, Home Bargains, B&M, and IKEA should note that hours will vary across the holiday period.
All stores will be closed on Christmas Day, with many also shutting on Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Some branches will operate reduced hours on Christmas Eve and other days. For example, the B&Q branch on Scotswood Road will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and will open from 7am to 6pm on Christmas Eve.
Wickes at Newcastle's St James Retail Park will close an hour earlier than usual on December 23, 27, and 30, shutting at 7pm instead of 8pm. The Range in Gateshead has yet to confirm its New Year trading hours. Home Bargains on Gateshead High Street will open half an hour later on December 27 and 28, at 9am instead of 8.30am.
Shoppers are advised to check individual store hours using the retailers' online store locators, as times may vary between branches. The festive period also sees normal opening hours on December 23, 27, and the final weekend of 2024 for most stores.
