B&M has confirmed the closure dates for two of its stores in August, with one relocating and the other undergoing refurbishment. The budget retailer, which operates more than 700 stores across the UK and welcomes over four million customers weekly, will shut its Carmarthen store on Saturday, August 15, and its Sunderland store on Sunday, August 16.
Carmarthen store relocation
The Carmarthen store, currently on Hall Street in the town centre, will move to a former B&Q building on Glanyrafon Road. The new Parc Pensam store is set to open a week later on Saturday, August 22. The new location is considerably larger and is said to be among Carmarthen's biggest retail spaces.
Sunderland store refurbishment
The Hylton Riverside Retail Park store in Sunderland will close for refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen six days later on August 22. On its website, B&M apologised for any inconvenience, stating: "In order to complete the final phase, it will be necessary for a closure period." The retailer said the expansion works were designed to offer shoppers a "bigger and better B&M experience".
Recent expansions
Earlier this year, B&M opened new stores in Diss, Norfolk, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, and Plymstock in Plymouth, Devon. The company has also unveiled plans for a 13,660 sq ft mega-store in a former Debenhams premises at Thistles Shopping Centre in Stirling, set to open later this year. Formed in 1978, B&M employs over 35,000 people.
