Viral American coffee chain Blank Street Coffee has confirmed it will open its first Liverpool store at Liverpool ONE on Sunday, November 1. The brand is taking over the former Krispy Kreme unit on Paradise Street, with the doughnut brand now located nearby, close to UNIQLO.
Since launching as a coffee cart in the garden of a Brooklyn diner in 2020, the company has expanded rapidly, growing to more than 100 sites across the UK and US. It opened its first UK location in London in 2022, and now has stores in Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as New York, Boston and Washington, DC. New openings in Bristol and Cambridge are lined up to coincide with the Liverpool launch.
A two-year project for the brand
Ignacio Llado, co-founder at Blank Street, said: “Liverpool has been a project two years in the making. You only open your first store in a city once, so it had to be the ultimate Blank Street experience. The location and the design had to be perfect, and I’m convinced we got there. I can’t wait to finally bring it to life.”
The team said the store is the result of years of design work and marks a UK first for Blank Street - a standalone kiosk with a curved façade that mirrors the brand’s very first location, Wythe Diner in Brooklyn. Inside, a mirrored stainless steel counter runs the length of the kiosk under halo lighting.
Menu and new offerings
The menu will feature Blank Street’s signature drinks, including the White Chocolate Matcha and Blondie Latte and Matcha, alongside classics such as flat whites, lattes, iced coffees and cold brews, all made with speciality coffee and first-harvest matcha. The limited-edition Autumn Menu will be available from opening day, including the Cinnamon Bun Latte and Matcha, and the Harvest Chai Matcha, all served hot or iced.
Liverpool will also be one of the first stores globally to get Blank Street’s new ice cream offering, made in Switzerland from six natural ingredients and finished with a signature shell in matcha, coffee or chocolate.
Opening day details
Blank Street is celebrating the opening with special gifts for Liverpool customers who have been requesting the brand’s arrival, as well as new local partnerships with run clubs and community groups across the city. The kiosk is expected to have internal seating for 12 people and is estimated to serve 400–450 customers per day, rising to around 800 per day at peak times. Customers will place orders with staff rather than using self-service kiosks, and no toilet facilities are proposed due to the small-scale, takeaway nature of the unit, with customer toilets available at Liverpool ONE.
