The average running cost for a king-size electric blanket was found to be 3p per hour, based on the Ofgem price cap of 27.69p per kWh from January 2026. Factors such as timers and heat settings affect efficiency, says energy expert John-Paul Drake of Love Energy Savings: “It could be wise to take advantage of both an electric blanket and a lower thermostat setting.”

All tested products that were not returned by brands will be donated to Hope for Food, a Bournemouth-based charity supporting families in need. This initiative ensures that the evaluation also contributes to local communities during the winter months.
