Leekes to Close Bilston Store After 15 Years in 'End of an Era'

Leekes, the family-owned furniture chain founded in 1897, has confirmed it will close its Bilston store on Sunday, August 2. The retailer has launched a major clearance sale ahead of the closure, marking down all stock at the high street location.

A spokesperson for Leekes described the closure as 'the end of an era for Leekes in the Midlands'. The Bilston store first opened in 2009 and has been a popular destination for homeowners across the region for more than 15 years.

Despite the closure, the company emphasised that it remains strong. 'While the Bilston chapter is drawing to a close, Leekes remains as strong as ever,' the spokesperson said. Staff and customers have been sharing memories of the store's service and home transformations.

Four years ago, Leekes invested in the Wolverhampton location, adding new furniture studios for brands such as Ercol, Stressless and Alexander & James, as well as an extended garden furniture range. The 2022 refurbishment also included the installation of solar panels.
