The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued several urgent food recall notices this week, warning shoppers about products sold at Asda, Waitrose, and other retailers. The recalls are due to potential contamination with plastic or metal fragments, Salmonella concerns, and undeclared allergens.
Asda is recalling its Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes because they may contain pieces of plastic or metal, making them unsafe to eat. Customers are advised not to consume the product and to return it to any Asda store for a full refund.
Waitrose customers who purchased The Goodlife Spicy Bean Burger are also urged to return the item, as it may contain plastic. The recall affects burgers sold at Waitrose and various online health retailers. No receipt is required for a refund.
HiPP Organic UK has recalled its 7+ months Vegetable Lasagne 190g jar because the label fails to declare the presence of celeriac (celery), posing a risk to babies with celery allergy. Separately, Good4U is recalling its Super Sprouts Super Greens due to possible Salmonella contamination. The FSA notes that Salmonella symptoms include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps, and advises affected individuals to stay away from work or school for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop.
Anyone who has purchased these products should not consume them and should return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. The FSA continues to monitor the situation and advises shoppers to check their cupboards.
