Aldi and Morrisons Recall Chicken Products Over Safety Fears

Two major UK supermarkets have issued urgent recalls on chicken products due to safety concerns. Aldi is recalling Ashfields Grill Four Garlic and Herb Chicken Kebabs after a labelling error resulted in an incorrect use-by date, making the product unsafe to eat. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) confirmed the recall on June 10, noting that affected products show a use-by date of July 9, which is incorrect.

Aldi described the recall as a “precautionary measure” and assured customers that no other products are affected. Shoppers are advised to return the kebabs to any Aldi store for a full refund. The supermarket apologised for the issue, stating that the product did not meet its normal high standards. Customers can contact Aldi customer services on 0800 042 0800 or via help.aldi.co.uk for further information.

Separately, Morrisons has recalled its wafer thin cooked chicken due to the potential presence of small pieces of metal. The FSA issued the alert on June 7, urging customers not to eat the product and to return it to their nearest Morrisons store for a full refund. A receipt is not required. Morrisons said no other products are affected and apologised for the inconvenience.

These recalls come amid a series of food safety alerts from UK supermarkets. Earlier, Tesco recalled two chocolate bar multipacks—Tesco Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars and Tesco Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars—because they contain peanuts not declared on the label, posing a risk to those with peanut allergies.
