Aldi has issued an urgent recall for its Ambiano Ionic Hairdryers, warning customers of a high risk of electric shock. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published the alert, stating that over time the power cord may become damaged, exposing live parts or causing overheating. If a user touches an accessible live part, they could receive an electric shock.
Recall details and affected products
The recalled hairdryer is model 849855, available in black, white, yellow, and orange. The barcodes are 4061462195075 (black), 4061462195211 (white), 4061462195310 (yellow), and 4061462195372 (orange). The products were sold during August and September 2025. Customers who have discarded the packaging can find the barcodes on the underside of the hairdryer.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, according to the OPSS. Aldi has recalled the item from end users, advising consumers to stop using it immediately and return it to their nearest store for a full refund.
Aldi's statement and customer advice
Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling the Ambiano Ionic Hairdryer (sold between August and September 2025) because of a technical fault. Anyone who bought this product should return it to their nearest store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The supermarket instructed customers: "Do not use the product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund."
Other recent recalls
Last week, Mint Velvet's Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandals, sold by Next, were recalled due to an injury risk. The OPSS stated: "The product presents a risk of injuries as the footbed can become detached from the wedge heel during use. If the footbed unexpectedly became dislodged during use, the user could fall, leading to injuries. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."
Next has contacted consumers who purchased the heels directly, advising them to stop using the product and follow the instructions sent by Next to arrange a refund or replacement. The affected models are Y79431 and Y79434.
