Air fryer test: Elbow Grease beats Fairy Liquid in cleaning showdown
Air fryer test: Elbow Grease beats Fairy Liquid

In a head-to-head test on greasy air fryer baskets, Elbow Grease washing-up spray outperformed Fairy Liquid Skip The Soak, leaving no residue at a lower price point.

Testing both sprays

Angela Patrone, Senior Lifestyle Reporter, sprayed equal amounts of both products onto each basket after cooking chicken in both compartments. She applied 10 sprays per basket and left them for roughly 10 minutes.

The Elbow Grease product cost approximately £1.19, while Fairy Liquid Skip The Soak was bought for around £3.99. Both are marketed as potent degreasers that cut through tough grease, burnt-on food and stubborn oil marks.

Results and observations

During spraying, the Elbow Grease product had a considerably more pleasant aroma, while the Fairy Liquid gave off a distinctly strong chemical odour.

After 10 minutes, grease appeared lifted from both baskets. The Elbow Grease basket emerged entirely spotless on the initial wipe, while the Fairy Liquid basket required slightly more attention in the middle of the tray.

Final verdict

After rinsing under the tap, the Elbow Grease basket showed absolutely no marks, while several stubborn greasy spots remained on the Fairy Liquid basket, though nothing necessitating intensive scrubbing.

Both products proved capable of tackling grease, but the Elbow Grease Washing Liquid was the clear winner, offering exceptional value for money at its price point.
