Aimee Lou Wood Dropped from M&S Christmas Campaign Despite Reported High Fee

Aimee Lou Wood, the actress known for her roles in Sex Education and The White Lotus, has reportedly been dropped from Marks & Spencer's Christmas advertising campaign, despite an initial agreement that included a substantial fee.

The 31-year-old Stockport-born star was originally set to front the festive advert, following in the footsteps of Hannah Waddingham and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. However, M&S has decided to shift its strategy, moving away from a single-hero advert to a series of festive films and influencer content.

An M&S spokesperson confirmed the change, stating: 'We really enjoyed working with Aimee Lou Wood during the early stages of this year’s Christmas campaign – she brought great energy and creativity to the process. As the campaign evolved, we started to embed a new product-focused strategy under new leadership.'

The decision comes as John Lewis's Christmas advert has received a mixed response, with some viewers calling it 'depressing' and 'not very Christmassy'. The advert, soundtracked by a reimagined version of Alison Limerick's 'Where Love Lives', focuses on a father and son struggling to express their emotions.
