A simple DIY hack promises to make painting garden fences faster and easier, using a humble sponge instead of brushes or sprayers. The method, shared on TikTok, has been praised as 'absolutely genius' by viewers.
Sponge method revealed
TikTok user @mrsclarehoops, known for DIY tips, demonstrated the technique. She recommends taking a large yellow sponge, chopping it in half, and using rubber gloves due to the mess. She explained: 'I've tried so many different methods of painting fences over the years, and this is by far the fastest.'
Dunking the sponge into paint, she glides it across fence panels, saying: 'It just glides on and gets into all the really bumpy bits. So it's not the neatest, but it's definitely the quickest, and sometimes speed is what you need.'
Large yellow sponges cost as little as 46p each at DIY shops and supermarkets. Commenters were quick to support the hack, with @dryad.girl saying: 'Thank you for this.
