Propertymark webinar to guide Welsh letting agents on Rent Smart Wales audits
Webinar to guide letting agents on Rent Smart Wales audits

Propertymark is offering letting agents in Wales guidance on preparing for Rent Smart Wales audits, following calls for greater support with compliance requirements. The organisation has organised a webinar to help agents understand what regulators expect during the five-yearly audit process.

The session, titled Getting the most out of your Rent Smart Wales agent audit, will take place on Tuesday 3 November, from 3pm to 4pm. It follows feedback from Propertymark members who want clearer guidance on preparing for audits and reviewing their working practices.

What agents need to know

The webinar will cover audit preparation and compliance procedures. Sarah Rivers, group leader at Rent Smart Wales, will explain the regulator’s approach to auditing commercial letting and management agents. She oversees the organisation’s commercial agent audit programme and has experience in housing regulation and compliance monitoring.

Angela Davey, head of lettings at Peter Alan and ARLA Propertymark’s South Wales regional executive, will provide an agent’s perspective. Davey has more than 30 years of property industry experience and will discuss the practical implications of regulatory audits.

Wider regulatory changes

Tim Thomas, Propertymark’s senior policy and campaigns officer, will chair the session. He will also provide an update on developments affecting Wales’s private rented sector.

The webinar will give agents an opportunity to ask questions and review their approach to compliance. Propertymark says the aim is to help agencies identify potential issues before an audit, rather than simply respond to problems afterwards.

The session is open to letting agents operating in Wales. Agents can register for the webinar.
