James Acaster's Traitors reveal: Did he ruin the final?

Comedian James Acaster stunned his fellow contestants on The Celebrity Traitors by revealing he was a traitor during Thursday's roundtable, ahead of Friday's final.

The 41-year-old was banished from the castle in the penultimate episode of the BBC reality gameshow after struggling to defend himself during a discussion about former EastEnders star Ross Kemp's murder.

Acaster's announcement

Acaster told the contestants: "I just want to explain my situation, I was made a traitor without wanting to be, I've had a unique experience on this that no-one's had before, where I wanted to be a faithful and that's all I've wanted to be."

He added: "I couldn't just go, 'guys it's me, vote for me, but that's all I can do really'."

Chaotic scenes and welfare checks

It has since emerged that chaotic scenes followed his announcement, which was not aired on the show. Filming reportedly had to be halted and welfare crews called in to check on the star.

The winner of The Celebrity Traitors is to be crowned in Friday's final, and a poll asks whether Acaster's shock reveal has ruined the final and the chances of the Traitors.
