Michelin-rated restaurant OSMA, which closed its Prestwich venue in early 2025, is set to reopen in Manchester's Northern Quarter in Autumn 2026. The Scandinavian-influenced restaurant will launch at the One Port St luxury residential tower, joined by a new grocer and provisions store called Boutikk.
Background and Closure
OSMA, led by Head Chef Danielle Heron and co-owner Sofie Stoermann-Naess, first opened in Prestwich in October 2020. It quickly earned a place in the Michelin guide, and Heron appeared on Masterchef: The Professionals and Great British Menu. In early 2025, the owners announced the closure of their Bury New Road venue, citing difficulties in finding experienced staff in Prestwich. The decision prompted an outpouring of support from local residents, with one expressing being 'impatient and excited for what lies ahead'.
New Location and Concept
The new OSMA will be located at One Port St, a luxury residential development in the Northern Quarter. The name OSMA is a portmanteau of Oslo and Manchester, reflecting Sofie's Norwegian heritage and Danielle's classical culinary training. For the first time, the restaurant will be accompanied by Boutikk, a grocer and provisions store conceived by Sofie. The shop will offer seasonally sourced vegetables, dairy, fruit, and a fresh meat and fish counter, with chefs available to advise customers on selection and cooking techniques. It will also feature freshly baked Scandinavian-style bread inspired by Oslo's food culture.
Danielle and Sofie said: "We're so delighted to be reopening OSMA, we've missed it every day and to be bringing the restaurant back into such a vibrant part of the city centre is beyond exciting. We will miss our community in Prestwich but we're only a couple of miles down the road!" They added: "Bringing a shop like Boutikk to Manchester has been a dream for such a long time - we feel that there is a need and a want for this kind of produce in the city centre so when it became apparent that we could create something alongside OSMA we jumped at the chance."
Menu and Offerings
The menu will build on the critically acclaimed food that established OSMA's reputation in Prestwich. Guests can expect fresh seafood, local meats, seasonal vegetable dishes, and the return of some most-loved dishes. The popular sharing Sunday roast will also make a comeback. Sofie will lead the front-of-house experience and oversee Boutikk.
Previous City Centre Presence
This will be the team's first permanent concept in the Northern Quarter, though they previously operated a pop-up kitchen in the city centre at the Exhibition food hall. In late 2025, they also launched a pop-up called Nordo Sando, a Japanese-style sandwich and small plates concept at Kampus, which operated from September to October.
Developer's Perspective
Adam Price from Select Property, developer of One Port St, commented: "Osma has made a remarkable impact on Greater Manchester's dining scene in a short space of time, and we're proud to be partnering with them on this exciting new chapter. Their new home at One Port St is a natural fit - we share a commitment to community, quality and creativity, and this collaboration reflects our ambition to bring something truly fresh and inspiring to the Northern Quarter. It's also a key part of our vision to curate an exceptional lifestyle offering for residents." Residents will have direct access to the restaurant and shop without leaving the building, alongside indoor and outdoor working and socialising spaces, spa and wellness facilities, and panoramic city views.
OSMA and Boutikk will open in Autumn 2026 at One Port Street, Manchester M1.
