Cammy Devlin has left Heart of Midlothian after failing to agree to a new contract, the club confirmed. The Australian midfielder, who was a free agent since his deal expired on July 31, was given a deadline by the club to commit to a new offer but did not meet it.
Departure Confirmed
New Hearts boss Wouter Vrancken allowed Devlin time to fulfill his World Cup duties with Australia before holding talks last week. However, those negotiations did not lead to an agreement. A club statement said: "Cammy was given a deadline by the club to commit to taking up the offer of a new deal, which he has failed to meet, and therefore leaves under freedom of contract."
Devlin joined Hearts in August 2021 and made 176 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals. The club thanked him for his time at Tynecastle Park.
Interest from MLS and Rangers
Devlin has attracted interest from Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake, while Rangers have also been linked. Derek McInnes' cryptic comments about Devlin have further fueled speculation about his next move.
Devlin was a key player for Hearts during their unlikely title challenge last season. The club will now focus on finding a replacement for the midfielder.
