NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have announced the closure of 10 UK bank branches in September 2026. The closures affect branches in England, Wales, and Scotland. NatWest Group, which owns both banks, confirmed it intends to keep its remaining 336 branches open until at least 2029.
Alternatives for Customers
Money Saving Expert has provided guidance for customers reliant on the closing branches. They suggest withdrawing cash or making deposits at a local Post Office, or locating a local banking hub—shared spaces where customers of multiple banks can deposit and withdraw cash and receive face-to-face support.
Customers should note that as NatWest and RBS are under the same banking group, they may be able to use either branch if only one is closing in their area.
NatWest Closures
Five NatWest branches are closing: Port Talbot (Station Road) on 8 September, Llanelli (Stepney Street) on 9 September, Bristol (North Street) on 15 September, London Regent Street on 30 September, and Lewisham High Street (date not yet confirmed).
RBS Closures
Six RBS branches in Scotland are closing: Milngavie (Douglas Street) on 8 September, Arbroath (Brothock Bridge) on 9 September, Castle Douglas (King Street) on 10 September, Motherwell (Hamilton Road) on 10 September, Biggar (High Street) on 16 September, and Glasgow (Fenwick Road) on 17 September.
