McDonald’s Overhauls Delivery Menu: Key Items Removed

McDonald’s has confirmed a significant shake-up to its McDelivery menu, removing several popular items including the classic hamburger, small fries, Mini McFlurries, small soft drinks, small milkshakes, porridge, and salads. The changes take effect from Tuesday, July 14, and apply to all orders placed via the McDonald’s app, Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats.

Affected items: Hamburger, Small Fries, Porridge, all Mini McFlurry variants, all Small Soft Drinks, all Small Milkshakes, Chicken Salad and Chicken & Bacon Salad, and Side Salad. These items will remain available for eat-in and takeaway at restaurants.

Why the Changes? McDonald’s Cites Customer Feedback and Sales Data

A McDonald’s UK spokesperson told Metro: “As part of our continued menu evolution, we regularly listen to customer feedback and review sales data. As a result, we’ve made the decision to remove certain items from our delivery menu. These changes will also help our teams to provide a better experience, focusing on the products we know our customers love ordering most via delivery.” The spokesperson added: “While these menu items will still be available in restaurants, we understand the change to delivery may be disappointing for some; however, every menu decision is carefully considered.”

Customer Reactions: Upset Over Loss of Smaller Portions

Online reactions have been mixed, with many expressing disappointment. On Instagram, @lucedickson commented: “I love the mini McFlurry; the normal one is too much.” @pm190283 lamented the hamburger removal: “Awesome, so you will now pay for a cheeseburger and remove the cheese, but no discount for not having cheese anymore.” Some customers accused McDonald’s of being “crafty,” with @tdrury9423 stating: “This is very crafty! Means you have to buy a higher-priced item off the menu to get a delivery now.” @haynes.1515 echoed: “So remove the cheapest items so you can only buy the more expensive items… great choice for the customer.”

New Items Arriving: Hot Honey Range and Returning Favorites

Alongside the removals, McDonald’s is introducing new limited-edition items from July 14. The World Cup specials are departing, replaced by a Hot Honey range including a Hot Honey Dip, Hot Honey Sausage & Egg McMuffin, Hot Honey McCrispy, and Mozzarella Dippers. Other new items include Ranch Dip and Korean BBQ sauce. The Big Arch burger gets a Bacon version, and the Cornetto McFlurry returns after 17 years, available in Clasico (chocolate sauce and chocolate Cornetto pieces) and Strawberry (strawberry sauce and strawberry Cornetto pieces) variants.
