Detailed plans have been unveiled for a new affordable housing development on grassland at the edge of Sale, Trafford, sparking mixed reactions from local residents.
Proposed Development Details
The scheme, submitted by developer Keepmoat, proposes 53 new homes on land off Firs Way. All homes would be classified as affordable housing, according to planning documents. The mix includes 15 two-bedroom, 33 three-bedroom, and five four-bedroom houses.
The development is described as 'entirely reliant' on securing grant funding. If approved by Trafford Council, work could begin as early as April 2027, with completion expected by the end of 2028.
Facilities and Access
In addition to the homes, the plans include areas of open space, 63 car parking spaces (58 for residents and five for visitors), and cycle storage in gardens. Vehicle and pedestrian access would be from Firs Way.
Keepmoat has stated the scheme aims to 'cater for all needs, from first-time buyers to downsizers'.
Resident Concerns
However, the plans have drawn criticism from some Sale residents. On social media, one resident commented: 'Now there will be even less green land left for wildlife.' Another added: 'This needs to stop, there will be nowhere for wildlife left.' A third simply described the plan as 'very sad'.
In response, Keepmoat said it intends to plant trees and 'wildflower grasslands' to 'increase the ecological value' of the site.
