The Royal Mint's 2027 Sovereign Collection includes a silver coin struck for only the third time in minting history, priced at £77.50 with 15,000 available.
Silver Sovereign limited release
For 2027, and only the third time ever, The Sovereign has been struck in silver, measuring the same diameter and weight as its gold counterpart. The silver sovereign coin is a limited release of 15,000, priced at £77.50.
The collection also includes the gold sovereign coin at £1,295, with only 3,000 available. Every sovereign coin in the commemorative range has been struck in recycled gold for the first time, as part of the Mint's commitment to a sustainable future.
History and design
Since its creation in 1489, The Sovereign has been struck for kings and queens. It is available to strengthen investment portfolios and enhance collections.

Star Trek 50p coins unveiled
The Royal Mint has also unveiled two new 50p collectable coins celebrating 60 years of Star Trek. The colour editions reflect the vivid outfits worn in the show, as advances in colour television were made in the 1960s.
The first coin design features the Vulcan salute alongside the words "Live long and prosper" and "Star Trek 60", marking the landmark anniversary. The second coin showcases four spacecraft spanning different eras of the franchise, along with the words "Star Trek 60".
The coins can be bought from The Royal Mint now, with prices starting from £19.95. The coins can be bought together at the same time, with the Vulcan Salute coin available as an individual coin and the second spacecraft coin available as an individual coin from November.
