Ford Recalls Over Half a Million Vehicles in North America Over Critical Safety Defects
Ford Recalls 500,000+ Vehicles Over Critical Safety Defects

Ford Motor Company has announced a massive safety recall affecting more than half a million vehicles across North America, addressing two potentially dangerous defects that could compromise vehicle control and safety.

Critical Steering Concerns Prompt Urgent Action

The American automotive giant is recalling approximately 500,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans from the 2014-2018 model years due to a serious steering issue. According to safety investigators, these vehicles may suffer from seized cross-axis ball joints that could suddenly detach from the steering mechanism.

This alarming defect poses a severe safety risk, potentially causing drivers to lose steering control entirely while the vehicle is in motion. The problem has been linked to multiple accidents and injuries, though fortunately no fatalities have been reported.

Additional Driveshaft Dangers Identified

In a separate but equally concerning development, Ford is recalling nearly 45,000 Ford Escape SUVs from the 2022 model year. These vehicles face driveshaft problems where the component may not have been properly heat-treated during manufacturing.

The compromised driveshafts could fracture unexpectedly while driving, potentially causing complete loss of power or even allowing the vehicle to roll away when parked if the parking brake isn't firmly engaged.

Nationwide Impact and Repair Process

The dual recalls affect vehicles across the United States and Canada, with Ford dealers prepared to conduct necessary repairs at no cost to vehicle owners. The automaker has committed to replacing defective steering components and driveshafts to ensure customer safety.

Ford is proactively notifying affected customers and urging them to schedule immediate inspections at their local dealerships. Vehicle owners can check their VIN number on the official Ford recall website or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database to confirm if their vehicle is included in this critical safety campaign.
