P&O Cruises Warns Passengers: No Insurance, No Boarding
P&O Cruises: No Insurance, No Boarding

P&O Cruises has issued a critical reminder for all passengers: without proof of suitable travel insurance, you could be denied boarding at your own expense. The UK-based cruise operator clearly states on its website that it is mandatory for every guest to have appropriate cruise travel insurance coverage to sail.

Insurance Requirement Across the Fleet

The policy applies to all seven ships in the P&O fleet, including family-friendly vessels such as Arvia, Iona, and Britannia, as well as adult-only ships Arcadia and Aurora. All of these depart year-round from Southampton. The company warns that standard travel insurance may not be enough for a cruise holiday, as it requires more specialist cover—for instance, in the event of a medical evacuation at sea.

What Passengers Must Bring

Passengers are required to bring either printed or digital copies of their insurance documentation. Failing to declare pre-existing medical conditions could lead to extremely costly medical bills or even refusal of treatment. The cruise line emphasizes that anyone unable to provide proof of insurance will be turned away at their own expense.

This reminder comes as the peak travel season approaches, with many Britons having already booked their cruise holidays. P&O Cruises advises all passengers to check their insurance policies well in advance to avoid any last-minute issues.
