Richard Hammond and his former wife Mindy Hammond are set to share almost £4 million after their jointly founded production company entered voluntary liquidation. Hamster's Wheel Productions, established in 2008, has been wound up after 18 years of trading.
Company Assets and Solvency
A Declaration of Solvency document published on Companies House reveals the firm holds £2.3 million and is owed a further £1.45 million. It is also set to reclaim £176,573 from the government in corporation tax payments.
The London-based independent production company developed, supported and produced media content and television projects, including Richard Hammond's Blast Lab, Wild Weather, and Lab Rats.
Background of the Business
Hammond, 56, is best known for co-presenting Top Gear between 2002 and 2015, and The Grand Tour from 2016 until 2024, alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May. Affectionately nicknamed "The Hamster" owing to his relatively short stature, he established the company with Mindy Hammond.
Following the breakdown of their 28-year marriage, the couple placed the company into voluntary liquidation last month. As the business remained solvent at the time of closure, the wind-up generated a financial windfall of nearly £4 million.
Separation and Future Plans
It was previously reported that Hammond vacated the family home near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire after the split, spending time in rented accommodation before eventually relocating to Wales.
He announced at the time of their separation in 2025: "A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family, and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently. Our marriage is coming to an end, but we've had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters. We will always be in each other's lives and are proud of the family we created. With Love, Richard and Mindy."
Companies House has now confirmed the company has entered liquidation. The pair are expected to split nearly £4 million from the business.
