Moneyfacts Pick of the Week: Santander cashback and Chip ISA

Moneyfactscompare.co.uk's Pick of the Week has named a Santander mortgage deal that pays customers £250 cashback, alongside a Chip Smart Cash ISA with a "market-leading 4.82% AER". The weekly roundup, compiled by finance expert Rachel Springall, highlights the best new products and rate changes across savings, mortgages, and current accounts.

Chip ISA leads savings market

Springall selected the Chip Smart Cash ISA as the top easy access cash ISA, noting that after "several rate hikes this week against the competition," Chip has come out on top for direct applications. The account pays 4.82% AER or 4.72% gross as monthly interest, which could appeal to savers looking to supplement their income while using their 2026/27 cash ISA allowance.

The account allows unlimited withdrawals and is described as "fuss-free," though it does not allow transfers in. As the ISA includes a 12-month bonus, savers are advised to review the deal when it expires. The core rate of 3.45% gross is guaranteed to track 0.30% below the Bank of England Base Rate, meaning savers could benefit from future rate rises. The deal earns an "Excellent" Moneyfacts product rating and is a Moneyfacts Best Buy.

OakNorth Bank and mortgage picks

The OakNorth Bank 24 Month Fixed Term Savings Account was also highlighted for its "market-leading 5.21% AER". Springall noted that after a rate increase this week, the account now pays 5.21% AER, making it a highly attractive return for savers seeking a guaranteed return. The bond requires a minimum investment of just £1 and allows savers 14 days to make further additions, so a large one-off deposit is not needed. It can be opened online or via its mobile app and earns an "Excellent" Moneyfacts product rating.

On the mortgage front, the Santander three-year fixed rate mortgage at 85% loan-to-value was selected. Priced at 5.17%, the deal includes a free valuation incentive and a £999 product fee that can be added to the mortgage advance. Borrowers will also receive £250 in cashback, which Springall said may entice those looking to save on upfront costs. The deal earns an "Outstanding" Moneyfacts product rating.

Buy-to-let deal from Lloyds

In the buy-to-let sector, the Lloyds Bank two-year fixed rate mortgage at 75% loan-to-value was chosen. After a rate reduction this week, the deal is now priced at 5.45%. While it does not carry cost-saving incentives, it does not charge an upfront fee, making it one of the top deals in its sector. It earns an "Excellent" Moneyfacts product rating and is a Moneyfacts Best Buy.
