Jack Grealish has continued to be a positive influence behind the scenes at Everton during his recovery from a serious foot injury. The 30-year-old playmaker underwent surgery last month after suffering a stress fracture to his left foot and has been wearing a protective boot. He recently posted a gym picture on Instagram, writing: 'So so locked in to come back stronger than ever.'
Grealish has not played since leading Everton to a 1-0 win at Aston Villa on January 18. He informed club staff after the match that he had been playing through pain in his foot, in addition to a calf issue. Tests revealed the stress fracture, and after extensive deliberations, surgery was deemed necessary.
Manager David Moyes acknowledged Grealish's ongoing value, saying: 'He's really popular as you can imagine.' The midfielder has been a key figure for Everton this season, providing late winners against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, and playing a pivotal role in victories at Manchester United and Aston Villa. His absence is a significant blow to the club's push for progress.
Grealish's long-term future at Everton remains uncertain. Before the injury, there was optimism that parent club Manchester City would negotiate a fee lower than the £50m option in the loan deal. Moyes is open to retaining the player, but any deal depends on Grealish's wishes and his recovery. The injury has also dashed his hopes of featuring in the World Cup.
Despite being sidelined, Grealish remains central to the squad, posting supportive messages for teammates on social media. He shared an image with Jordan Pickford to wish the goalkeeper a happy birthday. Moyes noted Grealish is progressing towards stepping up his training as he continues his rehabilitation at Finch Farm.
