The Mazda 6e is now on sale in the UK with a single 78kWh battery pack and 255bhp motor, offering a range of 348 miles and 200kW charging capability. The price starts at £38,995 for the Takumi trim and £39,995 for the Takumi Plus.

Battery and Charging Upgrades

Mazda dropped the original two battery options in favour of the new 78kWh pack. The 255bhp electric motor enables a 10-80% charge in just 24 minutes. The stylish fastback saloon, named World Design Car of the Year, is a collaboration with Chinese manufacturer Changan.

Design and Interior

The 6e features Mazda's Kodo Soul of Motion design, with slim headlights, quad rear circular taillights inspired by the RX-7, frameless windows, flush door handles, and a floating rear spoiler. The premium interior includes a 14.6-inch touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, panoramic glass roof, head-up display, electric tailgate, and 360-degree camera. Boot capacity is 466 litres (1074 with seats down), plus a 72-litre front trunk.

Jeremy Thomson, managing director of Mazda Motors UK, said: "The Mazda6e is the car our dealers have been waiting for... it's a real statement of intent for the future and illustrates how Mazda can bring great design, technology and style to battery electric vehicles."

Dacia Spring Price Reduction

Dacia has cut the price of its all-electric Spring to £11,990. The standard model includes air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, digital instrument display, and Media Control system. The Spring Extreme Electric 100, priced at £12,990, adds a 100hp motor, 10.1-inch Media Nav Live with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, vehicle-to-load, copper accents, electric rear windows, and reversing camera.

The refreshed Spring has a range of up to 140 miles and can recharge from 20-80% in 29 minutes. Boot space is 308 litres (1004 with seats down). Lina Ribeiro, Dacia brand director for the UK, said: "Production efficiencies and a strong drive to continue to offer real value to our customers have helped us pass on the savings... the most affordable new car on the market, electric or otherwise, is one of the smartest value choices."
